School Aged Health Service – School Aged Health Service provides early help and support through a range of skilled activities at individual, group and community level.  School nurses work in partnership with other agencies as part of a wider multidisciplinary team to support the health and wellbeing of school-aged children recognising the dynamic process of interaction between the child, the family, the child in school and the child in the community. The behaviour Support Service – The Behaviour Support Service (BSS) works with Wiltshire Primary Schools to provide support for all pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). This includes training and surgeries to school staff, as well as running parent workshops.

Best Start in Life Toolkit – This toolkit provides clear, simple key messages to promote positive health and wellbeing in its widest sense to support children in Wiltshire to have the Best Start in Life – including emotional health. The information is relevant from conception through to 5 years and recognises that health and wellbeing is influenced by a range of individual, community and environmental factors.

Mum2Mum – In a relaxed, welcoming environment (both virtual and in-person) located in the community with trained breastfeeding peer supporters– breastfeeding promotes secure attachment.

Education Welfare Service – Provide a service to schools to support them in raising attendance and improving punctuality.

Being a Parent – Being a Parent (EPEC): Parenting course for parents of children aged 2 – 5 years. Currently being offered online via Microsoft TEAMS in 9 one-hour sessions. ‘Parents learn communication skills for everyday life to bring up confident, happy and cooperative children’. Parenting Courses various courses and support are available to help with parenting and different stages of their development and different needs.

STOP Parenting Course – STOP Parenting Programme: is a 10-week parenting course for parents and carers of teens. The course supports parents and carers to understand their child/young person (and how their brain works) better; strengthen their relationship with them; develop new and positive parenting skills; learn how to manage conflict and risk-taking behaviour successfully; build resilience, and healthy emotional wellbeing in their child/young person. Wiltshire Health Schools Programme –  https://www.wiltshirehealthyschools.org/ : Supporting schools to implement a whole school approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. It is also trying to direct schools to existing support for young people‘s mental health – from support for preventative actions, support for parents and local and national agencies who can provide interventions. Getting Help

IAPT – Offers a wide range of support to people aged 16+, from psycho-educational courses to one-to-one intervention, including perinatal mental health support for parents.

Young Metal Health First Aid – Training delivered for school clusters, local authority and agency staff, offered at subsided rates to increase accessibility.

The SOMEHOW Project – Operating in the Tidworth area for case formulation around primary-age children with SEMH needs. Making best use of multi-agency working and digital innovation, with potential to be rolled out, dependent upon evaluation. Contact Lauren.Jones@wiltshire.gov.uk for more information.

The Harbour Project – Aims to be a SEMH centre of excellence to provide therapeutic approaches to enable foundation and primary aged children with emerging SEMH needs to develop relationships and positively engage with learning in mainstream schools.

Time to Change – This programme enables secondary school staff to access resources to engage young people to address stigma around mental health. Also, a range of local PSHE training and support have been provided to schools to help teachers raise awareness of emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.

Wiltshire Parent Carer Council – Provide information on local resources and support and can help direct you to support for your child and your family. The WPCC helpline is 01225 764 647.

Wiltshire SENDIASS – Can help parents understand how their children’s special education needs can be met in schools. They can help with paperwork and My Support Plans and Education Health Care Plans.

National Autistic Society (NAS) – The National Autistic Society is a charity providing a wide range of advice and support about Autism. They also run local support groups. The NAS helpline is 0808 800 4104.

Wiltshire Local Offer – The Wiltshire Local Offer describes the range of services and support for children and young people, aged 0-25, with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities.

Mental health Support Teams – To find out if you have an MHST in your child’s school please contact their school and ask for your child to be referred. The MHST’s are able to offer low level Cognitive Behaviour Support (CBT) to help with anxiety, low mood among some other early presenting mental health problems.

Getting More Help

The Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) The Eating Disorder Service (TEDS) provided by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust: a multi-disciplinary team of qualified mental health professionals facilitating early identification of eating disorders, offering specialist assessment and evidence based treatments for eating disorders in children and young people, early contact/referral is encouraged for any eating disorder concerns.

CAMHS liaison service – CAMHS liaison service provided by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust: CAMHS professionals based in paediatric departments offering emergency or urgent specialist mental health assessment to children and young people who present at a local District General Hospital (GWH, RUH & SDH) and about whom there are significant mental health concerns, training for paediatric teams in mental health awareness and useful techniques.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) – Teaching assistants who have had special training from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children and young people in school. ELSAs help children and young people learn to understand their emotions and respect the feelings of those around them. They provide the time and space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and how they manage them.

Educational Psychologists – Promote the well-being, inclusion and achievement of children and young people. Through working with young people and their families, schools, and associated agencies, by using psychology to find solutions and develop shared understanding in tricky situations. Educational Psychologists also support professionals and families to build their skills and capacity in meeting a wide variety of needs.

You and Me, Mum – Support mums to understand the effects of domestic abuse on their children, which will involve a certain amount of emotional wellbeing. If you are interested in this course please contact referrals@spurgeons.org you can advice you on gaining a course interest form.

Relate ‘Time to Talk – Counselling delivered in several Primary schools across Wiltshire.

Volunteer Mentor Support – Volunteer Mentor Support: The youth offending team is supported by volunteers to help as mentors to children and young people. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information on 01225 716505.

Wiltshire Autism Assessment Service (WAAS) – The Wiltshire Autism Assessment Service (WAAS) provides an assessment-only service for children and young people who are showing possible signs of autism.

Getting Risk Support

Enhanced Speech and Language and Communication (SALT) – Through training, awareness sessions, guidance with forms, development to staff, joint-assessments and co-working through supervision as well as limited amount of direct support through limited case-holding.

CAMHS Sexual Assault Liaison Therapist – Across Wiltshire and Swindon: Indirect (development of targeted training packages and consultation with staff) and direct intervention (consultation with parents and foster parents as well as assessment with the young person) including psychological therapy for sexual assault trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

Perinatal Mental Health – Offering primary care liaison and brief interventions to support parent-child attachment.

Harmful Sexual Behaviour pathway – Across Wiltshire and Bath and North East Somerset, enhancing advice and support available for those children/young people who do not meet standard CAMHS threshold provision consisting of face to face consultations for multi-agency professionals, consultation sessions will also be available – for professionals that are working with more complex cases.

Counselling for survivors of sexual assault – Revival offer confidential counselling and support to male and female (13+) survivors who have been raped, sexually abused or sexually exploited.

Swindon & Wiltshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) – The Swindon & Wiltshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC): is the first point of contact for people who have experienced rape and serious sexual assault. The SARC is a safe place for confidential practical and emotional support to anyone impacted by rape and serious sexual assault.

Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP) Service AWP, CCG – Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP) Service AWP, CCG: Support for those experiencing first episode of psychosis.

Specialist PIMH Service AWP, CCG – Specialist care for women experiencing moderately severe to severe mental health problems during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum.

Wiltshire CAMHS In Reach Team – Offering specialist mental health advice, signposting and consultation to professionals, and direct therapeutic interventions to parents, carers/young people from qualified and accredited therapists, focused on edge of care parents, foster carers/adoptive parents and SGO’s, Looked After Children, young people under the childhood sexual exploitation team , and unaccompanied asylum seekers, particularly for those not yet referred to or would not meet criteria for CAMHS getting more help.
