Young Carers Day: A Day for You

Location: Trowbridge

Date: 29th October

We are the Children and Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing Team and we are inviting young carers who may be experiencing low-level emotional health or wellbeing challenges to join us for a day designed especially for you.

Being a young carer can be rewarding, but it can also be stressful, overwhelming and at times emotionally draining. Looking after someone else often means putting your own needs second. This day is an opportunity to take a step back, focus on yourself and learn ways to support your own emotional wellbeing.

As part of our Early Help Mental Health Service, this event has been created to help young carers build resilience, develop coping skills and access support before worries become bigger challenges.

What is the day about?

This is a positive, relaxed wellbeing event for young people aged 11 to 18 who have caring responsibilities and would benefit from some additional emotional wellbeing support.

There is no pressure to share personal experiences or talk about anything you do not feel comfortable discussing. You can simply come along, take part in activities and enjoy spending time with other young people who understand what being a young carer can be like.

What can you expect?

Understanding and supporting your emotional wellbeing

Explore practical strategies to help manage stress, worries and everyday challenges. Learn simple techniques that can support your mental health and emotional wellbeing both now and in the future.

Building confidence and resilience

Take part in activities designed to help you recognise your strengths, develop confidence and discover ways to cope when life feels difficult or overwhelming.

Creative and wellbeing activities

Enjoy fun and engaging activities that promote relaxation, self-expression and positive wellbeing. Take time to switch off, recharge and focus on yourself.

Finding out about support

Learn more about the help available for young carers and access information about services that can support your emotional and mental wellbeing when needed.

Most importantly…

For one day, you do not have to focus on caring for someone else.

This day is about you, your wellbeing, your strengths and what matters to you.

Come and laugh. Come and create. Come and relax. Come and meet new people. Come and learn new ways to look after your emotional wellbeing.

Who is it for?

Young people aged 11 to 18 living in Wiltshire who are experiencing low-level emotional or mental health needs and are registered as young carers

Whether you have been caring for someone for many years or are only just beginning to identify yourself as a young carer, you are welcome.
