Black History Month 2021

Black History takes place in October each year, and in previous years it has, quite rightly celebrated the ‘big names’ in Black History. This year, the theme is ‘Proud to be!’, and this is celebrating the lives of every day Black and Brown people. This year Black History Month celebrates the individual successes, histories, heritages, diversities and lives of every day people.

What are YOU proud of?

Part of the aim of Proud to Be this year is to help children to share their stories, and things about themselves that they are proud of. We hope to celeberate the richness of black youth together.

See below a link for a Resource Pack which will be helping schools and colleges to celebrate Black History and Black Stories throughout the year.

Barnardo’s Black History Month

Barnardo’s have chosen to celebrate the theme of ‘Shining the Light on Hidden Histories’

This is an important theme and will celebrate the lives and lesser known stories of Black/Afrikan Diaspora Histories. We are having a launch event on the 10th of October ran by Andrew Muhammad from The Investigator. Barnardo’s will be giving space and reflection time to the lesser known stories of Black and Brown People and celebrating every day greatness of people.
