It’s true what they say – it helps to talk!

Kooth

If you are aged 11 to 20 and live in Wiltshire you can receive free online counselling from Kooth.
The service is available 12 noon to 10pm weekdays, 6pm-10pm weekends.

On Kooth you are able to read articles that have been written by other young people. You are also able to write in a daily journal to express how you are feeling. Kooth aims to keep the service confidential. Kooth ensures that the conversations you have with staff are not discussed with anyone else unless they feel that you are at risk or in danger. Where this is the case they will talk to you about whether services outside of Kooth will be necessary in order to gain a better understanding of how you can be helped.

Relate

When you meet with a counsellor you are given the opportunity to discuss what is on your mind. Counselling sessions are strictly confidential and the counsellors themselves won’t look down on you or judge you about anything you tell them. People will often see their counsellor once a week for six weeks for a session that is roughly an hour long. For most people, the 6 week sessions enable a trusting relationship to develop. Relate counselling is free for 13 to 18 years old . You are able to make an appointment on your own or ask someone in your family to do it. For people aged 7 to 12, it costs £40 per session and your parent or carer would need to contact Relate to make the appointment. There are afternoon and evening Talk Zones available in the following towns: Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Marlborough, Trowbridge, Royal Wootton Bassett and Warminster.

Teen Talk

The service is aimed at 10-18 year olds who are struggling to deal with their feelings. Sessions take place in The Canberra Centre on Spa Road in Melksham on Thursdays between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. You will meet your counsellor in a comfortable and private room for an hour’s session each week. The total number of sessions you attend will depend on your circumstances. You will be offered the opportunity for an initial meeting with a counsellor to find out more about the service and whether it would be of benefit to you. Young Melksham is a charity based in the heart of Melksham and are committed to making our service accessible to all young people in the Melksham Community Area. We are entirely funded as an organisation by donations and grant funding, but strongly believe that cost should not be a barrier to accessing services
